L-Carnitine is an amino acid naturally produced in the body that plays a crucial role in the delivery of long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria of cells. Once there, the fatty acids are oxidized and used as energy. Carnitine is found concentrated mostly in skeletal and cardiac muscles, tissues that use such acids as fuel. Not only does this process provide energy for muscle cells, but burns fat as it’s the source of said fuel.           

A study released in the Journal of Physiology, data showed in the control group, that with the supplementation of L-Carnitine, the glycogen and plasma glucose oxidation levels raised as workout intensity increased, thus indicating an increased utilization of fatty acids being utilized as energy.
