Top 3 Most Common Workout Mistakes
Do you feel building muscle is impossible regardless of how much time you spend in the gym? You can spend countless hours sweating away at the gym with little result on your body. If this sounds like a familiar scenario, you’ll want to check out some of the common workout mistakes listed below. If you are performing one or more of these mistakes, you could be limiting the effectiveness of your exercise routine.
One of the most common mistakes people make when working out is not pushing themselves past the dreaded “plateau.” Regardless of your body type and experience, everyone has a plateau. This is defined as a limitation of sorts for your body. For instance, you might be able to increase the size of your dumbbell or barbell weights for several weeks before reaching a point where you can’t. This is called the plateau simply because your workout flattens out.
It’s important to remember that the plateau is all in your head. If you truly want to build muscle and tone your body, you must push past this mental state.Continue pushing yourself while maintaining a positive attitude and you’ll eventually work past the plateau.
Rest is equally as important as working out. If you don’t give your body enough time to recovery, your muscles will suffer as a result. Lifting weighted barbells and dumbbells naturally tear muscle fiber, which creates the sore feeling after a good workout. In order for the muscle fibers to repair themselves, you must rest between workouts. You can still go for a jog around the neighborhood or perform some other form of cardiovascular workout, but you need to avoid high-intensity interval training until your body has fully recovered.
Let’s face it, most people who sign up for a gym membership end up going once or twice before they fall back into their old habits. This is an all-too-common problem that millions of people experience. If you want to successfully build a stronger, leaner body, though, you must follow through with your workouts. Make it a point to hit the gym or weight room at least once every other day. Once you get into the groove, you’ll find that working out is easier and more enjoyable.
The key to working out is to remain motivated. Think about your end goal and what you want your body to look like. The only way to reach this goal is by consistently working out, so don’t give up!
