Let’s face it, not everyone has a free 1-2 hours available in their day to workout at their local gym. In today’s fast-paced world, you’re lucky if you can dedicate just half an hour to your daily workout sessions. Whether it’s your job, chores, personal life, or just normal day-to-day tasks in general, you may not always have a full hour or two available for working. The good news, however, is that you can reduce your workout time without sacrificing gains by following some simple tips.
Stop Waiting For Machines
There’s nothing more frustrating than driving all the way across town to your local gym only to find out that someone else is using your favorite machine. Rather than waiting around for them to finish — who knows how long that would take — go and find a different machine to use. Some people closely hover over their favorite machine when it’s in use, but this ultimately eats through your time without providing any real benefit. Besides, no one wants a pair of eyes watching over them like a hawk while they’re trying to work out.
Work Out at Home
Of course, you could always choose to work out at home rather than driving to the gym. The commute to and from the gym alone can easily take up an hour of your day. And when you consider the fact that some people perform this commute 3-5 times a week, that’s a hefty amount of time spent sitting in traffic! Opting to perform some of your workouts at home is a huge time-saver that shouldn’t go unnoticed.
You probably won’t be able to perform all of your workouts at home, but a pair of heavy-weighted dumbbells alone can yield a full-body workout. And then you can head off to the gym one or two days a week to hit your favorite machines or use their equipment.
Up The Intensity
Arguably, the single most effective technique for reducing your workouts times is to up the intensity. If you’re still casually lifting ‘moderately’ heavy weights, then perhaps it’s time to kick your workout routine into overdrive with some heavier weights. Not only will this reduce your time spent working out, but it will also encourage better muscle gains. Just remember to gradually add more weights so you can identify your body’s physical limits.
