Get a Full-Body Workout With Battling Ropes
Battling Ropes have become one of the hottest new workouts of the year. Not only does it offer a full-body workout, but it’s also incredibly fun to perform. Far too many people give up on their workouts because of a lack of interest. Let’s face it, running on the treadmill or elliptical for countless hours each work is downright boring. To make matters worse, you’ll see minimal results from tedious cardio workouts such as these. A better option, however, is to invest in some Battling Ropes; here’s why:
So, what exactly are Battling Ropes? The system was invented by 53-year-old fitness expert John Brookfield. Brookfield wanted to design a fun new workout that people would actually enjoy doing. He noticed the sheer weight and power of heavy ropes; thus, he came up with the idea of incorporating them into a workout. As the name suggests, Battling Ropes are based around the principle of swinging heavy ropes around to achieve a full-body workout. Because of the ropes’ sheer weight, it requires a great deal of strength to move them around.
It’s hard to describe the intensity of a Battling Rope exercise without experiencing it yourself. Bystanders watching others perform the exercise might assume it’s rather easy. The truth, however, is that Battling Ropes place a heavy physical toll on the body. Each time you swing the ropes up into the air, you are using your arms, core and even parts of your back muscles; therefore, it’s an incredibly beneficial workout that targets a broad spectrum of muscles.
Battling Ropes come in two different sizes — 50-foot or 100-foot ropes. Each of the ropes are roughly 1.25 inches in diameter. While both the 50-foot and 100-foot ropes offer a seriously beneficial workout, the 100-foot model definitely boosts your performance to another level. For beginners, though, it’s recommended that you stick with the 50-foot Battling Ropes.
Workouts with Battling Ropes typically involve swinging them up and down. Start by laying the two Battling Ropes parallel out in front of you. Now pick them up with your hands and alternate swinging them. Jerk the right Battling Rope up as high as you can and then switch to the left. Continue doing this until you’ve reached your “peak,” and then give yourself time to rest. It’s a fun and highly engaging workout that most people will find a fresh change from the traditional gym equipment. Just remember to keep pushing yourself to perform bigger, longer Battling Rope sessions.
