Two Powerful and Equally Fun Full-Body Workouts

Only working out certain muscle groups in your body will limit your ability to grow. It’s a common mistake for beginners to spend all their time working out their upper body or arms without paying attention to their back, legs or core. In order to achieve a toned body, you must focus on all of these groups. Thankfully, there are several quick and easy full-body workouts designed specifically for this purpose.

Kettlebell Swing

Kettlebell swings are one of my personal favorite full-body workouts. All it takes is a single kettlebell and a little bit of free time. There’s no need to visit a gym or mess with heavy and confusing equipment. To perform a kettlebell swing, hold a kettlebell with both arms and drop your body down into a squat position. Once your thighs are parallel with the floor, swing the kettlebell forward as you raise your body back into a normal standing position. Continue doing 3 sets consisting of 10 reps each before.

The secret to truly benefiting from kettlebell swings is to increase your weight load when necessary. If 30 reps isn’t enough to make your muscles sore, then perhaps you should step up to a heavier kettlebell weight. After all, the only way you are going to build muscle is by increasing your kettlebell weight. Don’t fall victim of the “plateau” where you simply grow content with your current workouts and weights.

Battling Ropes

Battling Ropes are one of the hottest new workouts around. If you’re tired of the same old boring gym routines, then you should check out this new system. Based on their appearance, you might assume Battling Ropes are just a pair of ordinary ropes. Once you begin to use them, though, you’ll quickly see their potential as a full-body workout.

There are two different types of Battling Ropes – the 25-foot and 50-foot ropes. It’s recommended that beginners stick with the shorter 25-foot ropes simply because they’re easier. Lay the ropes out parallel in front of you, giving yourself plenty of space to the sides. Now pick up the ropes and swing them rapidly up and down as hard as you can. The Battling Ropes should make wave-like motions as you swing them. Continue doing this until your muscles are no longer able to perform the activity.

Dumbbells

You might be surprised to learn just how many different types of workouts you can perform with a set of dumbbells. From chest presses and lunges to bicep curls and hammers, dumbbells are the perfect tool for full-body workouts.

For a full-body workout with dumbbells, it’s best to start with a specific muscle group and then work your way to the next. For instance, you can work on your chest with chest presses followed by bicep curls for your arms and squats for your legs. Also, there’s nothing wrong with waiting until the following day to work out a different set of muscles. Waiting until the next day may benefit those with a lack of energy or time constraints.
